Fran has significant expertise in freedom of information and privacy law, and for over 20 years has provided both strategic and practical advice to public and private sector clients about their rights and obligations under federal and provincial privacy and access statutes.
Fran’s approach to access and privacy matters is to guide clients to the most effective and efficient resolution of their issues, to mediate practical solutions, narrowing or resolving issues where possible, and to incur litigation costs only on matters of interpretive importance or principle. She cares about her clients and is warm, reliable and humorous. When clients work with Fran they often quickly regard her as a friend and trusted adviser who will help them through complex and difficult issues. When disputes can’t be resolved, Fran is a tireless advocate.
Before returning to university to take her law degree, Fran was employed for 10 years as a labour relations practitioner representing employers in health care, municipalities and government.
