Legal Administrative Assistant
Harris & Company LLP (Harris) is Western Canada’s largest workplace law and advocacy firm. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant to join our busy and fast-paced Labour, Employment & Human Rights team.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Receiving and handling incoming correspondence, diarizing timelines;
- Drafting and preparing letters, memos, and correspondence as directed by supervising lawyer;
- Reviewing and proofreading outgoing correspondence and documents, sending out and diarizing timelines;
- Liaising with the Labour Relations Board, arbitrators and various tribunals;
- Liaising with external clients;
- File Management, including maintaining client files, opening and closing files, preparing retainer letters and attending to client identification and/or verification procedures;
- Scheduling appointments, meetings, hearings, mediations;
- Making necessary travel arrangements;
- Managing and maintaining calendars and bring forward systems to ensure important deadlines are met;
- Assisting lawyer and paralegal in hearing preparation, including preparing and organizing documents;
- Assisting lawyer and paralegal with organizing, proofreading and hearing documents
- Filing documents with tribunal / board / court and attending to service;
- Working with or appropriate tribunal / board to schedule dates;
- Processing time entries and preparing client invoices in conjunction with accounting department;
- Monitoring accounts receivable and assisting with follow-up as required; and,
- Any other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience as a legal administrative assistant (experience in workplace law and advocacy or litigation considered an asset);
- Graduate of a Legal Administrative Assistant program from a recognized institution;
- Experience as a legal administrative assistant (range dependent on position);
- Familiarity with court and tribunal processes and rules;
- Strong technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Suite;
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
- Outstanding customer service skills;
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines; and,
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
$62,000.00 to $79,900.00 annual salary
The salary range for this role reflects Harris’ reasonable estimate of potential compensation at the time of the posting of this job. Actual compensation will depend on various factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
