Starting June 1, 2017, the monetary jurisdiction of “Small Claims Court” will be increased from $25,000 to $35,000. In addition, most claims of up to $5,000 will no longer be dealt with in Small Claims Court. Instead, they will be resolved through the Civil Resolution Tribunal (“CRT”). The CRT is an online tribunal that will offer dispute resolution services.

More information is available on the Provincial Court of British Columbia’s website.
