The B.C. Supreme Court has fined the B.C. Teachers Federation for violating an order prohibiting its recent illegal strike. The court ruled earlier that the BCTF was in contempt of court when it engaged in strike action, but adjourned the issue of fines to a later date.

In the decision issued October 21, 2005, Madam Justice Brenda Brown fined the BCTF $500,000 for their continuing contempt.
