BC Labour Relations Code Review Panel Report –  Available Online For Review & Feedback

June 25, 2025
Share

Section 3 of the Labour Relations Code (the “Code“) requires the appointment of a committee of special advisors to undertake a continuing review of the Code and labour management relations every five years. A committee of special advisors was appointed in February 2024 to conduct the s. 3 review.

Following extensive consultation with key stakeholders in the Spring of 2024, the committee submitted its report to the Minister on August 31, 2024 outlining 10 unanimous recommended amendments to the Code and 5 unanimous recommendations relating to labour management relations. The committee was split on its recommendations concerning Bill 9 which amended the definition of “strike” in April 2024.

The committee’s report has now been released online for public review and feedback. This provides interested parties an opportunity to consider the recommendations and provide information and commentary for the Ministry to consider before determining next steps in relation to the committee’s recommendations.

Employers and any other interested parties are encouraged to review the report and to provide their feedback and comments by email to LRCReview@gov.bc.ca by 4:30 pm on September 19, 2025.
