The BC Human Rights Tribunal has announced a review of its Rules of Practice and Procedure. The Rules address issues such as making and responding to complaints, making applications, procedures at hearings, and post-hearing matters including enforcement of rulings.
The review will focus on streamlining the complaint process and making it more accessible to both represented and unrepresented parties. Interested parties are invited to make submissions by September 28, 2007. Submissions may be emailed to: BCHumanRightsTribunal@gov.bc.ca
The Rules were last revised in October, 2004 and the revised Rules are scheduled to come into effect on January 1, 2008, along with the Human Rights Code (Mandatory Retirement Elimination) Amendment Act, 2007 and amendments to the Administrative Tribunals Act.
