Forest Statutes Amendment Act Given Third Reading and Royal Assent

The BC legislature gave third reading and Royal Assent to Bill 11, the Forest Statutes Amendment Act on June 12 2000. It makes significant changes to the Forest Act and the Forest Practices Code of BC Act as well as other related statutes. According to the ministry, holders of woodlot and small timber sale licences now have more flexibility in the amount of timber they cut, and licensees with allowable annual cuts of up to 10,000 cubic metres will be allowed to cut between 80 per cent and 120 per cent of their allowable annual cut over five years.
