This Private Members Bill proposes to amend section 1 of the Human Rights Code to clarify that “sex” includes “gender identity and gender expression.”

The proposed amendment is intended to affirm “the rights of transsexuals, transgenderists, intersexed persons, cross-dressers, and other groups who routinely suffer discrimination based on the expression of their gender or the gender identity they experience.”

Bill M211 has not yet been scheduled for Second Reading. For more information about the current status of this bill, please visit the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia website.
