The BC Medical Association has released its policy paper on the BC health care system. A New Course for Health Care proposes fundamental changes. One key proposal is removal of day-to-day administration of BC’s health care system from the Ministry of Health. The BCMA recommends creation of an arms-length body to deal with the long term planning and budgeting of the provincial health care budget. The paper also recommends consideration be given to private delivery of some publicly funded health care services.
