BCLRB rules on BCTF

June 15, 2001

The BC Labour Relations Board has ruled that the “in dispute” designation by BCTF against the West Vancouver School Board’s CHILD Program is an illegal strike. The LRB ordered BCTF to rescind the designation and to cease and desist from making any such further designation or declaration. It also has ordered BCTF to communicate to all its members that the in dispute designation and refusal to perform the CHILD Program work were an illegal strike declaration and strike and that the designation has been rescinded. The decision has been filed in the Supreme Court of BC. The school board was represented by Harris & Company counsel.
