Amendments to BC Employment Standards Act and Workers Compensation Act are now in force

As of May 17, 2018, proposed amendments to the Employment Standards Act and the Workers Compensation Act are now in force.

The amendments are set out in these two bills:

This bill introduces new maternity, parental and compassionate care leaves. See our previous post Proposed Amendments to BC Employment Standards Act for highlights of the new leaves.

The purpose of this bill is to provide first responders with easier access to mental health supports. See our previous post Proposed Amendments to the Workers Compensation Act for a summary of the changes to the Workers Compensation Act.
